Hallo!
Well I've had this blog for a while now, I made it with hopes that I would write down my every thought and feeling towards this new big stage in my life, which if you haven't already guessed is spending a year somewhere in Germany. Away from friends, family, and the familiarities of my Canadian life its about time I start embracing this adventure and its also about damn time I start incorporating all those things on my blog so I can have something to look back on.
So much has happened since I applied that it would be foolish, long, and for me, too much work (lazy 4 lyfe) to update you on a play by play of what has happened so far. So instead I am going to, point form, update the happenings in my life concerning this Rotary Year Exchange!
- early November - send in application
- late November - go through anxiety rising interview trying to look as calm, cool and collective as Grace Kelly but end up looking and laughing like a cracked out Britney Spears
- December - learn that I have been chosen to be part of the Rotary Year Exchange (side note this was a FUCK YEAH moment of my life)
- January 2011 - new years and new stack load of paper for me to fill out :D
- February 4th & 5th - Trip to Mattawa with all inbound and outbound kids from other clubs it was fun, but not my kind of fun too much snow, soaking wet socks and campfire smelling teens, I'm more of a champagne, caviar kind of gal ;P
- February 6th - The day which even the snow and weird activities of Mattawa couldn't stop us from thinking about, the day myself and many other outbounds find out our countries.
Mine was Germany! :) - March 5th & 6th - Orientation concerning the very intricate details of this exchange which meant bringing your parents, because no teenager can remember all that stuff. But my dad happened to sleep through most of it. (did I mention I also had to do a speech in German infront of everyone :/ but it went smooth, or so I think I might have blacked out that part)
*deep breath*
Ok so that's all that has happened. It really has all been a blur but maybe that just my lack of concentration. Anyways you'd think they'd have everything covered with all the tons of e-mails I've gotten, forms I've filled out and meeting I've been through but noooooooo, there is one more orientation. It happens to be in Ottawa and it also happens to be a trip where both inbounds and outbounds of Rotary are going. I am actually pretty excited and cannot wait to see some of the awesome people that I have met during these, busy past few months.
The only thing I'm worried about is the 4 minute german speech which I have to memorize and present. But I'm gonna try my best and if all fails, I'll just make up words.
What rhymes with schnitzel?
